Here’s Phillip Clary – The Chef, The Owner & Visionary of Macelleria
Phillip’s culinary journey began 25 years ago in Ohio, where he first fell in love with the art and culture of food as a cook in Columbus. After graduating from The Ohio State University, his passion for food led him south to Charleston, SC, and eventually to Europe, where he immersed himself in the Slow Food Movement—a philosophy celebrating fresh, local, and traditional cooking methods.
During his time in Europe, Phillip’s dedication to sustainability, quality, and the health of the meats we eat deepened. He returned to the US to refine his culinary skills at The International Culinary Center in New York City. He freelanced at Epicurious and had the privilege of working directly with culinary icon Mario Batali at Lupa Osteria.
Years later, Phillip decided to start a family back in Central Ohio. It was then that the dream of Macelleria began to take shape.
Macelleria represents our unwavering commitment to providing the East side of Columbus with fresh, natural, locally sourced meats and authentic Italian products, reflecting Phillip’s passion for the art of food and his dedication to sustainability.
